So far the information on Russ is kind of limited. His website only touches 3 issues: Ending the war in Iraq, Providing affordable health care, and energy independence. I have to admit when I first went to the website I thought "energy independence", that's strange but very encouraging. It turns out one of his sons has been in Iraq for over a year and just returned recently, if I'm following the timeline correctly.
Suddenly it makes a lot more sense. The only way we are ever going to get out of our involvement in the middle east AND stop terror is to reduce our dependence on oil. This is very encouraging and what I more or less expect in someone we send off to Washington. So far he has the nebulous "Russ supports a new energy policy that invests in alternative energy like wind and solar power". Not exactly the stuff of a concrete answer but hopefully he'll work on a more defined answer.
Beyond that it's a lot of what you might expect in a representative, married, kids, small business owner, son of a minister. So far I'm most impressed that he supports energy independence and a withdraw from Iraq. Much of the tech that is going to be needed to create energy independence is going to be developed in this region and those will be high paying jobs.

CA26 The Race is On!
Another beautiful in southern California and with the national race shaping up between McCain and Obama I thought I might start digging into a preliminary take on my local congressional races in CA26 With the primaries here over it's going to be between the incumbent Republican David Dreier and the Democratic challenger Russ Warner.
I'll start off by explaining my background. I come from a very republican family and grew up in Idaho. After graduating college I went to work in Las Vegas for a year, then Arizona, and now I've been in CA for the past 4 years. Currently I'm an independant with a strong leaning toward Obama but McCain still looks good. I just moved into CA26 last fall so I'm a little new to the area. If you want to know more just ask in the comments and I'll be happy to tell more.
